In other words, if you plan to cut larger logs, you should get a larger sawmill. The most common size sawmill blades used with Alaskan sawmills are the 36inch and 48inch models. If you are cutting large logs, then a 56inch or a 60inch will be better. On the other hand, for smaller logs, you should consider a 30inch or 36inch blade.

You aren't going to be able to mill a 48" wide piece with a 48" mill and bar. Probably figure in the neighborhood of 42" with a 48" mill.
